Passcode Protection

To set up a passcode, tap the Settings button (bottom right corner on the main page), navigate to the Passcode Protection page and turn Passcode Lock ON. This will lock Daily Tracker so that every time you launch it, you will need to type in your passcode.

Protecting application access with a passcode offers enhanced security, however it may be inconvenient if you are using Daily Tracker many times a day. In this case, you may choose to lock only the folders that contain sensitive information. By doing so, when you launch Daily Tracker you will not need to enter the passcode until you decide to access a locked folder. All locked folders remain hidden until you tap the Lock icon and enter your passcode.

To lock specific folders, navigate to Settings -> Passcode Protection -> Passcode Protected Categories and choose the folders that you’d like to protect.

Once you have your passcode set and you’ve chosen to lock specific folders, a lock icon will appear on the main screen (bottom right corner). Notice that all locked folders are hidden and their entries will not appear in search results until you unlock them. To unlock, tap the lock icon and enter your passcode.

To keep your data private, choose a non-trivial passcode and do not share it with anyone. When you start Daily Tracker, you will have 10 attempts to enter the correct passcode. Failing to do so will lock the application and require a restart. This introduces a significant delay to make it harder for someone to guess your passcode by trying different combinations. Your passcode is stored securely on your device, therefore it is not possible for us to reset it.

If you have forgotten your passcode and have unsuccessfully tried different combinations, the only way to reset it is to reinstall the application and restore your data from Google Docs backup (provided you have one). To do that, tap and hold Daily Tracker icon until it starts to jiggle, delete Daily Tracker and download it again from the Apple App Store. Since you’ve purchased it already, you will not be charged again. Once you’ve downloaded the app, navigate to Settings -> Desktop Data Transfer, sign-in to Google Docs and restore your data.
